Solar and Storage, in One Solution: Bergambacht C&I Energy Storage Project
- Location: Bergambacht
- Configuration: 5*E-MATE 261-L
- Capacity: 1,305 kWh
- Application: PV+Storage
- Year: 2026
In an era where energy transition and grid capacity present continuous challenges, how can renewable energy achieve its maximum potential? Recently, our partner Local Green Energy successfully completed a landmark solar-plus-storage integration project in Bergambacht, the Netherlands. By deploying 5 EENOVANCE E-MATE 261-L battery storage systems, the project further optimizes an existing commercial solar installation, setting a new benchmark for energy self-management in agricultural and commercial sectors.

Project Background: The "Evolution" of an Existing Solar Array
Located in Bergambacht, the project site was already powered by a large-scale photovoltaic installation featuring over 3,500 solar panels with a total capacity of 1,145 kWp.
However, high generation volumes often bring challenges such as grid feed-in limitations, curtailment, and peak-load cost pressures. To gain greater control over energy consumption, smooth out peak loads, and optimize electricity feed-in efficiency, the site owner opted for a smart upgrade by integrating advanced battery storage.
The Addition: 5 Battery Cabinets Delivering 1,305 kWh of Storage
To perfectly complement the 1,145 kWp PV system, five E-MATE 261-L outdoor liquid-cooled battery cabinets were installed on site, delivering a combined storage capacity of 1,305 kWh.
This setup addresses two core operational goals:
-
Powering Heavy-Duty Charging: Providing stable, high-capacity support for a 180 kW EV charging point on site.
-
Maximizing Self-Consumption: Capturing solar energy that would otherwise be curtailed or fed back into a constrained grid, ensuring it is utilized for the site's own daily consumption.
Core Technology: Inside the E-MATE 261-L Cabinet
Engineered for peak performance and uncompromised safety, the E-MATE 261-L sets a high standard for outdoor commercial energy storage systems:
-
Core Configuration: Liquid-cooled outdoor cabinet housing five LFP battery packs (3.2 V / 314 Ah cells) behind an IP55-rated enclosure.
-
Exceptional Specs: Rated capacity of 261.25 kWh per cabinet, supporting parallel configurations of up to 10 units on the AC side, with a lifecycle of 8,000 cycles.
-
Rigorous Safety Standards: Equipped with integrated aerosol suppression and combustible-gas detection. Tested to UL 9540A at the cell, pack, and cabinet levels, and fully compliant with PGS 37 and multiple international standards (UN 38.3, EN 62477-1, IEC 62619).
Industry Trend: A Logical Next Step for Businesses
For a growing number of agricultural and commercial sites, battery storage is no longer optional—it is a logical next step.
Beyond achieving more sustainable on-site energy management, it allows businesses to deal more intelligently with fluctuating grid capacity and rising energy costs. By combining solar generation with smart storage, enterprises unlock total control over their energy future.
This project was expertly advised, installed, and managed by Local Green Energy, EENOVANCE’s trusted partner in the Netherlands.
Local Green Energy shared: "It is great to see another project in which solar energy and energy storage come together in one future-proof solution. We are proud to advise on, install, and manage Eenovance systems across the Netherlands."
With the successful commissioning of the Bergambacht project, EENOVANCE and Local Green Energy continue to demonstrate how innovative technology makes clean energy smarter, safer, and more accessible for commercial applications.
