Background
This project is deployed at PK Waterbouw, a marine and hydraulic engineering contractor based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The implementation was successfully realized through a collaborative effort involving three key parties:
- PK Waterbouw: The customer where the cabinets are installed.
- Eggerding Energy: Eenovance’s partner in the Benelux, responsible for engineering and installation on site.
- City of Amsterdam: Involved in the project in collaboration with the customer and the installation partner.
Challenge
Energy is traditionally consumed at the exact moment it arrives. This poses operational challenges for industrial sites:
- High energy demands during peak hours place heavy strain on the grid connection and the surrounding network.
- Without on-site storage, sites cannot efficiently capture available energy when supply is optimal or buffer power needs during busy hours.
Solution
To address these challenges, the project deploys a robust energy storage system featuring two E-MATE 125-261-L cabinets with a total capacity of 522.5 kWh on site.

- Store: Two E-MATE cabinets positioned on the yard take in and store energy when it is available.
- Use Smarter: The site draws power from the storage system at peak moments instead of straining the grid.
- Relieve the Grid: This approach successfully reduces the load on the connection and the local network.
